Retaining walls

A retaining wall is designed and constructed to hold back areas of the soil which would otherwise erode downward into an undesireable area. Every retaining wall is designed to support a "wedge" of soil. The most important consideration in proper design and installation of retaining walls is to measure and counteract the tendancy of the affected soil to spill downslope due to gravity and rain.
